Mexico Schools announces new Mexico Middle School assistant principal

Mexico Public Schools has a new middle school assistant principal: Jennifer Barnett.

Barnett has 15 years of experience teaching. She began her educational career in Centralia as an eighth-grade science teacher and, after a few years as a Panther, jumped at the chance to become a Bulldog. After 12 years of teaching seventh- and eighth-grade science, she recently transferred in-district to Mexico High School to teach biology and earth science.

“Mrs. Barnett has a deep love and passion for public education, especially with Mexico Public Schools,” said a district spokesperson.

She is an involved member of the Community Teachers Association (CTA) and is the current president. Jennifer believes it is important for educators to support one another so educators can provide support to students.

“My career in education has allowed me to combine my love for school with my belief in supporting both my students and fellow educators in my community to give back to the town that raised me,” said Barnett. “It's definitely not easy, but it is very rewarding, and I'm proud to say that I'm an educator, especially in my hometown of Mexico.”

Jennifer is the proud mom of Kelly (fourth grade) and Bryan (kindergarten). She is married to Adam Barnett, who teaches at Mexico High School (MHS). Jennifer and Adam are both proud MHS alums. She assumes her role as the new MMS assistant principal on July 1.
