Elliott Terrill Jackson

Elliott Terrill Jackson, 50, formerly of Mexico, passed away on Wed., Feb. 21, 2024, in Overland Park, Kan.

Visitation and funeral services will be Fri., March 8, 2024, at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico.  The visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., with the funeral service at 2 p.m.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Elliott was born on Feb. 18, 1974, in Columbia.  He was the first of two children born to Arthur Lee and Janice Kay (Williams) Jackson.  Both parents preceded him in death.

Elliott graduated from Mexico Senior High School.  After graduation, Elliott moved to Columbia, where he attended and graduated from Columbia College.

Elliott was best described as a quiet but thoughtful man who was very family oriented.  Elliott’s greatest joy was his daughter, Sydnee.  He was dedicated to her and very involved with her activities.  Together, they enjoyed bowling and going to movie theaters.  Their favorite series were the Marvel series, of which they’d seen them all.  As Sydnee is an avid reader, Elliott would always take her to the bookstore and buy as many books as she wanted.

In addition to Elliott’s love of family was his love of sports.  He was an avid Missouri Tigers fan.  Over the years, he enjoyed attending football and basketball games with his father, brother, uncles, and cousins.  Most recently, Elliott worked at the Kansas City Chiefs’ and Royals’ stadiums.  Also, Elliott enjoyed sharing a good meal with family and friends.

Another wonderful quality of Elliott was his hard work ethic. He always had at least two or three jobs. Most recently he was working at AssistRx as a pharmaceutical customer representative. His manager and coworkers were very fond of him. A large part of his career was spent in the auto and home insurance claims and adjuster field. He also worked part-time at Kohl’s for over 15 years. Many coworkers have described Elliott as kind, courteous, and funny.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sydnee Jackson, and her mother, Dena Gates, both of Overland Park, Kan.; one brother, Wade (Regina) Jackson of Mexico; one sister, DeAnn Gould of Overland Park, Kan.; two nieces and two nephews; one  great-niece and one great-nephew; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial donations, given to the Audrain Relay for Life, may be sent via Pickering Funeral Home at 403 North Western, Mexico, Mo. 65265.
