On Sunday, June 30 at approximately 7:09 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the area of Amelia Drive and Cardinal in reference to a grass fire. Responding personnel found fire moving into a field in the area. The fire was extinguished after burning about a tenth of an acre. There were no injuries and no personal property was damaged. The cause of the fire was determined to be fireworks.

On Saturday, June 29  at approximately 4:49 a.m., MPSD responded to the 400 block of Bourne Street in reference to a vehicle being stolen sometime after 7 p.m. the previous night. About 8:45 a.m., MPSD received reports of vehicles being rummaged through in the east side of town with about four vehicles having items stolen from them. Investigation led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and most of the stolen property. Two juveniles, who were identified as being involved, were detained and later released to guardians. The investigation is ongoing and cases will be forwarded to the 12th Circuit Court Juvenile Division.
