North Callaway breaks through in sixth to win 3-1 at Silex

North Callaway went into Thursday's Eastern Missouri Conference game with a 97-14 run differential in seven conference games.

The Thunderbirds remained perfect in the Eastern Missouri Conference with a 3-1 victory at Silex (9-5, 6-3 EMO). North Callaway failed to score at least 10 runs against a conference opponent the first time this season but broke through enough.

Carter Moore pitched a complete game seven innings with four hits allowed, and his offense eventually supported him.

In the sixth inning, North Callaway (12-6, 8-0 EMO) scored all three of its runs following a two-RBI double by Tucker Sheets and a run scored by Coltyn O'neal on a wild pitch. Sheets was 2-for-3, and O'Neal walked three times.

North Callaway is scheduled to host Sturgeon (7-8) at 5 p.m. today.

Mexico, Fox outdueled by state-ranked Blair Oaks 2-0

Brady Fox pitched well enough to win on most nights but not on Thursday.

Mexico lost 2-0 to Class 4 No. 2 Blair Oaks after reigning all-state pitcher Jacob Tellman turned in a better performance. Fox's line included six strikesouts, two hits, two walks and two unearned runs in 6 1/3 innings for Mexico (12-10) while Tellman countered with six strikeouts, four hits and two walks in six innings for Blair Oaks (16-8).

Harrison Lear connected on a two-RBI home run in the first inning that went as unearned runs due to a Mexico outfield error earlier in the inning.

Mexico's best chance to score was a bases-loaded situation with no outs in the sixth inning. Ashton Belcher, the Bulldogs' lone senior on Senior Night, reached via a single to load the bases. Blair Oaks induced a double play in the inning to take the steam out of the threat.

Mexico (3-4 NCMC) is scheduled to play another state-ranked Class 4 team in No. 9 Fulton (11-4, 7-2 NCMC) in a matchup between North Central Missouri Conference rivals at 5 p.m. today. The Bulldogs won the first meeting 4-3.

Centralia shut down by Palmyra in 3-1 conference loss

Centralia didn't have the offense to support its pitching on Thursday.

Following a 16-3 win against Monroe City, the Panthers lost 3-1 at home to Palmyra despite only allowing one hit.

Luke Waltemate (four innings, one earned run and three strikeouts) and Anthony Ford (three innings and three strikeouts) combined for three walks as well for Centralia (9-10, 3-3 CCC). Palmyra (5-12, 3-2 CCC) scored all of its runs in the fourth inning that started with a hit by pitch and an error.

Micah Danielson had a RBI groundout in the sixth inning for Centralia's only run. Ford went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk, and Cole Higginson finished 2-for-3.

Centralia is scheduled to host California (13-5) at 5 p.m. today.
