Community R-6's Mason Carroll and Van-Far's Reece Culwell were both solid on the mound Thursday at Community R-6, but one had to close.

Carroll and the Trojans won 4-0 as Van-Far (4-4) committed several errors to give way to two unearned runs and make four straight victories this season for Community (5-2) and four straight against the Indians over four years. The all-stater Carroll pitched seven innings with seven hits, six strikeouts, and one walk while Culwell finished six innings with 11 strikeouts, eight hits and no walks.

Community scored one run in the first inning on a bunt that turned into a throwing error for Van-Far, then the Trojans added two in the third inning following a missed catch by the Indians outfield, and Nik Crider's infield hit brought home another in the sixth after an error and stolen base.

Eli Johnson went 2-for-3 with two runs for Community, Brant Cope was 2-for-3 with a RBI and Crider had a RBI. For Van-Far, Carson Huff went 2-for-3, and Tyson Douglas had a double.

Community plays at Elsberry (3-5) at 5 p.m. Friday, and Van-Far hosts Marion County (4-2) at 5 p.m. Monday.
