Mason Carroll and Community R-6 dominated its Central Activities Conference game on Tuesday at home.
Class 1 No. 10 Pilot Grove (9-8, 6-1 CAC) went into the meeting undefeated in conference but had one loss after an 8-0 Trojan victory. Community lost 3-0 and 11-6, respectively, to state-ranked New Franklin and Cairo within the conference already this season, but Carroll allowed only one and three baserunners while striking out 12 in seven innings (82 pitches).
Carroll hit a solo home run to make it 8-0 in the sixth inning, Eli Johnson had a two-RBI home run to make it 5-0 in the second inning, and Lane Carter's bunt on a double-squeeze play scored two runs for a 7-0 Trojan lead in the fifth inning. From the beginning, Community (10-7, 5-2 CAC) strung together five straight hits in the first inning for a 3-0 lead, besting its total a night before in a 3-2 loss at North Shelby. Mason Rohan and Kyler Swaim had RBI in the inning.
Community hosts Mark Twain (7-8) at 5 p.m. Thursday for Senior Night.
