XC ROUNDUP: Centralia HS boys second, Mexico JH’s Stevenson third at Father Tolton XC Invitational

The Centralia boys impressed on the state course on Saturday.

On Gans Creek Cross Country Course, the Panthers finished second with 78 points in the Father Tolton Cross Country Invitational behind Southern Boone’s 74 points. Centralia had four medalists led by Nolan Spickert’s eighth place time of 16:40, and Seth Stevenson was a third-place medalist for the Mexico junior high boys.

Carter Moss was ninth for the Centralia boys with a time of 16:53, Dryst Bostick was 14th with a time of 17:28 and Wesley Robertson was 15th with a time of 17:30. Kenedee Moss had the best finish for the Centralia girls with a 30th-place 22:38, and Katelynn Asbury placed 40th.

Jesus Robinson had Missouri Military Academy’s best finish in 92nd place with a time of 20:33, and Chase Von Savoye was next in 121st place.

In the middle school race, the Mexico boys were seventh out of 13 teams with 182 points in the boys 3K and were led by Stevenson’s third-place time of 11:06. Reid Bickell was next in 25th place with a 12.39, and Julian Ruppel was 32nd with a 12:59. The Mexico junior high girls were seventh out of 13 teams as well in the girls 3K, with Hunter Hodde leading the way with a 31st-place time of 14:38 and Lisbeth Ventura Rios in 33rd with a 14:45.

Kinnaman, Chapman runners-up for Paris in Palmyra

Paris’ top runners competed for individual titles on Saturday.

Mairyn Kinnaman was the runner-up in the girls 5K at the Palmyra Invitational with a time of 23:04 while Landen Chapman was second in the boys 5K with a time of 17:12. Garrett Hopke placed high for the Van-Far boys, and Community R-6 had a girl in the top 35.

Ava Crain was 12th in the girls race, Kaylee Johnson was 13th and Mia Kendrick was 19th. Hayden DeOrnellas was 25th in the boys race, and Severeno Olivas was 28th. The Paris girls were second behind Monroe City’s 24 points with their 53 pts, and the Paris boys placed fifth out of seven teams with 96 pts.

Hopke was eighth for the Van-Far boys with a time of 18:57, and Slade Keller was 22nd. Erin Childs placed 23rd as the lone Van-Far girl. 

Evelyn Scott finished 33rd for the Community R-6 girls with a time of 30:01, Gabby Knipfel was 39th. Nicholas Henke had the Community boys’ best finish in 73rd.

Song wins MMA home cross country meet 

Christopher Song represented Missouri Military Academy on its home course.

Song ran to a first-place time of 21:39.27 in the cross country meet on Sept. 11 in Mexico. Jesus Robinson was third with a time of 22:21.73.

For North Callaway, Emerson Reinhard and Hunter Jansen were fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 22:45.43 and 23:40.51. Grade Rasmussen won the girls race for the Ladybirds with a time of 24:36.35
