The Wolfpack Academy Dons battled all day in the heat at the World Wide Technology Soccer Stadium in Fenton.

Their final game of the day in the 3-v-3 tournament on June 22 was a 9-3 victory over Team Justice to earn the bronze. The Lady Wolves finished as a co-champion in their bracket.

The Wolfpack would play a tough-fought game vs Tekkerz FC but eventually would fall 6-2. Game 2 against Team Justice would bring a winning match of 5-3, when the Wolfpack started finding the back of the net. That progress would be stalled in Game 3 against SLSG with a loss of 11-4. This loss would also be the largest deficit in this 12-month period as well. Game 4 against BCW would be well-fought, resulting in a controversial score discrepancy that did not favor the Wolfpack Academy and recorded a loss 7-6. This would also push the Wolfpack out of the championship game.

“The team did a great job and our main objective was to improve from last year's tournament, in which we were winless,” head coach Chris Williamson said. “I also think a little embarrassed as well due to our performance or matchups. A test pilot was last tournament but correcting mistakes from that point through the passing 12 months made us better today. Honestly, if these teams thought last year’s tournament defined who and what type of team we are, they are mistaken. All I really saw was concern to make it out of the Wolfpack. That’s a very good feeling and it makes me as a coach proud of my players. They have what it takes to make a difference and they did.”

The Lady Wolves would make their appearance as well with a superior performance throughout the day with a well-fought bracket of female soccer play. The Lady Wolves would defeat Hat Trick Hotties 5-3 in Game 1. Game 2 would record a 4-3 victory vs Tropical Tigers. Game 3 victory vs Hat Trick Hotties 3-1. The Lady Wolves would drop the final game 5-1 to the Tropical Tigers. The Lady Wolves and Tropical Tigers would both champion the bracket due to SeMo sharpshooters being no-shows.

“The Lady Wolves played with poise and took great shots from outside areas with accurate placement,” Williamson said. “They really brought an attack all day in the heat and really never tired. So however the organization felt they needed to champion the bracket was fine with me because both teams deserved to be crowned, especially with the rearrangement and miscommunication of exactly what was happening in the bracket. Most of all the ladies played great soccer both having 3-1 records.”

The Wolfpack Academy will play the Midnight Melee 4-v-4 Tournament in Boonville on July 13.
