Memorial services for Robert Lee Clithero, 88, of Vandalia, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia with Reverend Linda Potter officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m at the funeral home.
Mr. Clithero passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico. He was born September 17, 1935 in Middletown the son of Isaac and Lena Price Clithero.
Robert married Glenda Ruth Hull on September 17, 1960 in Farber and she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons; Bruce A. Clithero and Bryan L. Clithero (Jenny Vergara); one daughter Debra R. (Chris) Linke; five grandchildren; Zachary (Caitlyn) Clithero, Arik (Jessica) Linke, Allan (Emily) Linke, Bruce Clithero Jr., and Stephanie Clithero; six great grandchildren Ayden, Addilynn, Arribella, and Anniahh Linke, Cohyn Clithero, and Noah Linke; sister-in-law Nina Clithero, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Gary Russell Clithero, four brothers;Kenneth, Joe P, Carroll, and Benny, and one sister; Selma Fern Paule.
Robert was a 1952 graduate of Vandalia High School. He would then go on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning home he worked most of his life as a farmer and later for Warrenton glass. He was a member of the Middletown Lions club and the Laddonia American Legion Post 510. Robert enjoyed Cardinal baseball, walks, but most of all his time spent with children and grandchildren.
