Emily Hoyt of Martinsburg won the Missouri FFA Agricultural Education Entrepreneurship and Placement Combined Proficiency Award at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. 

Hoyt, a graduate from Community R-6 High School, is the daughter of Brad and Becky Hoyt. She is a member of the Audrain County R-6 FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Stacy French and Britton Francis.

Hoyt’s supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program consists of a combined internship with Agriculture Education on the Move and the Community R-6 School District. She has also created her own program called Little Farmers Learning More. With AEOTM, Hoyt gives weekly presentations to third grade students to help them better understand the agriculture industry. She also interns in seventh and eighth grade Exploring Agriculture classes, where she creates and delivers lessons about agriculture.

As an FFA member, Hoyt served as the Missouri FFA state secretary in 2021-22. She also competed in the state and national agricultural sales career development events. Hoyt was the top individual in agricultural sales on the state and national levels. 

Outside of FFA, Hoyt served on the student council as a class officer. She was also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the varsity softball team and the St. Joseph Youth Group. 

After graduation, Hoyt’s plans include expanding her SAE program to more schools in her local area. She currently attends the University of Missouri- Columbia pursuing a degree in agriculture education, leadership, and communications with an emphasis in teacher certification.

 Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agriculture entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Education is one of 48 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. The Missouri Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association sponsored this award.

Hoyt will also be receiving a $750 scholarship from Missouri Farmer’s Care.
