Monday, Jan. 20, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday celebration will take place in Mexico, MO.
The celebration will be kicked off with a Remember the Purpose—Walk to the Courthouse at 11:30 a.m. beginning at the Mexico United Methodist Church 122 E. Promenade St.
The celebration continues at the Audrain County Courthouse at 101 N. Jefferson St. and will feature special guest speaker, Pastor Robert Godwin.
Robert Godwin has served as Senior Pastor of Central Christian Church of Moberly, MO. since July 24, 2022. Marcia Godwin services our county through the Randolph County Caring Communities program as Director of the Summer Foods Program.
Robert “Bobby” Godwin and his wife Marcia have been married for 35 years and have lived in Moberly for about 15 years. They have four beautiful daughters and six precious grandchildren. They have served together in many ministries through the years, and their love for people and Jesus is contagious. Bobby grew up in Bristow, OK and committed his life to Christ at the age of 18. He attended Missouri State University in Springfield, MO, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical-Electronic Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management Technology, while serving as Team Captain on the MSU football team. His professional life prior to full time ministry consisted of 24 years of corporate leadership for General Electric. Bobby has always had a passion for teaching youth the game of football and currently serves as the President and Commissioner of the Moberly Little Spartan Football League. Bobby was ordained in 2004 and shares that in 2011, the Lord gave him clarity concerning his purpose for his life. Bobby is a humble and gifted servant of God and has been faithfully leading and serving in nearly all aspects of ministry for over 30 years. Most recently he responded to the call of God and founded Life Church in Slater, MO and Marshall, MO where he has served as pastor for 7 years. Bobby is described as highly energetic and a man of unyielding integrity. A fellow pastor described Bobby as “highly intelligent, faithful, charismatic, a mighty prayer warrior, and a man with a heart of gold. He loves to take time to visit with people. If Bobby visits with someone, that person will hear the gospel”. Bobby envisions that CCC will fulfill The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by facilitating the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, going into all of Moberly, Randolph County, and beyond, making disciples of all nations. He believes that God has uniquely qualified and equipped CCC to support the greatest evangelistic outreach in the history of Randolph County known as God Gives You Power To Hope! Pastor Bobby is excited about leading Central Christian Church into a future of fruitful growth of all kinds.
The theme this year is, "Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365"'.
