Dorothy M. Rahmeyer, 96, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, in Mexico at her daughter’s home.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Dorothy was born on March 17, 1926, in Laddonia, the daughter of Russell and Edith Dye. She was a graduate of Mexico High School class of 1945.

On July 20, 1946, in Mexico, she married Gayle B. Adams, who died on June 22, 1977. She then married Emery H. Rahmeyer on June 30, 1978 in Mexico. They were married until he passed away on February 23, 1986. Dorothy then met Willie Koch, a longtime companion whom she spent many great years with until his passing.

Dorothy was an inspector for Florsheim Shoe Company until its closing. She then worked for Blattner’s Clothing for many years and Capital Cable Company in Columbia. Later on, she was a receptionist for the University of Missouri Hospital until she decided to retire at the age of 82.

Mrs. Rahmeyer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. She loved going to church, quilting, dancing and cooking.

Survivors include three children, Kathy Clayton of Centralia, Donald (Kim) Adams of Columbia and Judy (Larry) Frey of Mexico; two step-children, Dwight Rahmeyer of Springfield and Marlene Ochse of Easton, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Gayle (Tricia) Adams of Mexico, Kristina (Brian) Rysdam of Columbia, Sarah Frey of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nicholas Adams of Columbia and Troy (P.J.) Clayton of Columbia; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Miller of Frankfort, Ill.; niece, Debbie, and nephew, Murray, of Illinois.

Dorothy was preceded in death by two husbands, Gayle Adams and Emery Rahmeyer; longtime companion, Willie Koch; one daughter, Doris Beasley; one son, Larry Adams; two grandchildren, Darin Clayton and Clifton Adams; two brothers, Eldon Dye and Bufford Dye; and one sister, Juanita Dye.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
