Debra Elizabeth Thoenen, 65, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
Debra Thoenen, born on October 18, 1958, in Mexico, was the daughter of Leo A. and Bernita Marie (Bock) Thoenen. She completed her high school education at Mexico High School in 1976 and furthered her studies, earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
Throughout her career, Debra dedicated herself to serving others. She worked compassionately with special needs adults as a social worker and also contributed her skills as a bookkeeper for a lithograph company in the Kansas City area. Additionally, she enjoyed time as a landscaper at the Kansas City Plaza, showcasing her love for outdoor work and beautification.
Her commitment to her community and her profession left a positive impact on those she worked with and served. She also cherished the cats and dogs she raised.
Survivors include her siblings, Dinah (Frank) Winn of Benton City, Dennis (Zella) Thoenen of Ashland, David (Connie) Thoenen of Mexico, Darrell (Tonya) Thoenen of Benton City, Darla (Bruce) Mueller of Mexico, and Dale Thoenen of Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews, and her close friends, Lisa Moore and Mary Reading.
Memorial donations may be made to the Audrain Humane Society. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
