Community R-6 basketball and cheerleading recognized members its school family on the same night because it was Senior Night and the final home games of this season. However, the Lady Trojans and Trojans weren't victorious because of the performances by a blood family at Central Activities Conference foe Glasgow. The Lady Trojans lost 61-53 due to Halle Fuemmeler scoring 40 points and hitting five 3-pointers, and the Trojans lost to returning Final Four team Glasgow 78-26 after the Yellowjackets were led by Jordan Fuemmeler's 33 points and four 3-pointers.
The Lady Trojans (15-9, 6-3 CAC) really had one bad quarter in the second, when the Lady Yellowjackets (14-9, 7-1 CAC) outscored Community 22-9. Prior to that, the conference foes were about even and the Lady Trojans even led 16-10 after one quarter and only were outscored by one point in the second half.
Senior Kylie Brooks led Community with 16 points, 13 rebounds and five steals, Peyton Beamer followed with 12 points, six steals and four 3-pointers, Aaliyah Welch had 11 points and 10 rebounds, senior Brooklynn Glasgow had five points and five assists, and senior Alyssa Beamer had four points, four rebounds and three steals.
The Trojans (4-19, 2-7 CAC) feel behind quickley 22-6 after the first quarter and the margin grew steadily from there to 47-14 at halftime and 73-19 after three quarters. Fuemmeler was too fast in transition as the Yellowjackets (16-7, 6-2 CAC) capitalized on 15 steals and contested Community on defense even when they made a mistake.
Senior Brant Cope led with eight points and seven rebounds, senior Mason Carroll followed with five points and three rebounds, and Cooper Rohan and Caden Thomas each had five points also. Senior Aaron Carter pulled down four rebounds, and senior Mason Rohan played in his second game after returning from a foot injury.
The Lady Trojans play a rematch with conference rival and Class 1 No. 7 Cairo (19-5, 8-0 CAC) at 6 p.m. Tuesday while the Trojans face the Bearcats (11-11, 6-2 CAC) again after that at 7:30 p.m. Cairo won the previous meetings 62-32 for girls and 70-32 for boys.
