Posted

The Mexico boys didn't allow Palmyra to erase a big deficit like the Lady Bulldogs did in the previous game on Tuesday night at home.

The Bulldogs defeated Palmyra 89-40 after 10 players scored and hit 14 3-pointers. Mexico (11-5), who received votes in the most recent Class 4 state poll, led 49-19 at halftime and 75-34 going into the fourth quarter against a team who received votes in the most recent Class 3 state poll. Kaden Benne led Mexico and scored a game-high 24 points and hit six 3-pointers, Jaydon Eldridge had 17 points, five assists and three 3-pointers, James Matthews scored 11 points off the bench, and Holden Aulbur had nine points, 10 rebounds and two block. Mason Smith led Palmyra (14-4) with 12 points.

Mexico plays at Class 5 Warrenton (6-6) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
