MPSD responds to man wielding knife

On Sunday, Sept. 3,  at approximately 11:29 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the 400 block of Yale in reference to a disturbance involving a weapon. Responding officers contacted Travis K Baclesse, age 33 of Mexico, who was armed with a knife. Officers were able to safely take Baclesse into custody and he was eventually transported to the Audrain County Jail for domestic assault third degree, assault fourth degree-Special victim, unlawful use of weapon, resisting arrest, and armed criminal action. personnel from the audrain county sheriff's office and Missouri State Highway Patrol also responded to the scene to assist. Residents are reminded that people arrested / charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

MPSD responds to car accident involving motorized bike

On Sunday, Sept. 3, at approximately 11:16 a.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the area of North Jefferson Street and Vine Street in reference to a crash involving a bicycle. Responding personnel learned that Jo Ann Thomas, age 73 of Mexico, was traveling northbound on Jefferson Street near Vine in her 2017 Toyota, when she passed an E-bike being ridden by Jason King, age 53 of Mexico. Thomas proceeded to then turn at the intersection, into the path of the bicycle. There were no injuries from the crash.
